5 Tips for Acne Breakout Prevention

1. Eat your Water

One of the easiest lifestyle choices you can make is making sure you stay hydrated. Hydrated skin doesn’t over-produce oil that can cause breakouts. Along with drinking water, eating fruits and vegetables that are antioxidant-rich and that contain cellular water will help keep your skin looking great all year round. Goji berries and pomegranates are particularly good for hydrating your cells and feeding your complexion with antioxidants and anti-inflammatories.

2. Find the Right Acne Treatment

The aisles are full of different acne products that try to catch-all acne solutions. But not all acne products are the same, just like everybody’s skin needs aren’t the same! Murad makes several options for different types of skin. Products like the Murad Acne line is great for most types of skin, but that doesn’t mean it’s the right combination of acne products for your skin. You may want to consider anti-aging acne products, acne pill supplements, and perhaps alternative cleansers.

3. Always Take Off Your Makeup

When you come home at night, sometimes it’s late, you’re tired, and the last thing that you want to do is wash your face and remove your makeup before you hit the sack. But it’s never too late to start making a habit of taking off your makeup before bed. A night time acne skin care regimen is always best, but having moist wipes such as the Clarifying Wipes will be very handy so you can clean your face before bed even if you don’t have the energy.

4. Wash Your Pillowcases

It sounds like it would be an old wives’ tale, but it’s certainly true that dirt and bacteria can build up on your pillowcases, and when you fall asleep, they will transfer to your skin and cause acne breakouts. You certainly don’t want to expose your skin to extra bacteria! Make sure that you are washing and changing your pillowcases on a regular basis.

5. Taking 15 Minutes to De-Stress and Relax

We say it a lot because it’s true: stress can take its toll on your face by causing breakouts. Make a habit of taking fifteen minutes out of your day to relax and de-stress from your day. There are lots of ways you can do this – listen to music, call a friend or family, light a candle, etc. Just make sure it’s “you” time!

Like any beginnings or changes to your acne treatment regimen, it will take time for your skin to clear. Make sure you can keep your habits manageable. Just as long as you keep consistent with these five steps, your skin can look clear all year round.
